We mentioned a few days ago about the Apple iPad 2 mock up which was on show at the CES 2011 in Las Vegas. This was followed by some rumours about an early February release date and 128 GB storage facility.
Now the latest piece of news / rumour to come out about this eagerly awaited machine is around a video which is doing the rounds on the internet showing what certainly seems to be an iPad 2.
The story behind the video is a bit blurry but after a little investigation I found out that it seems that a Chinese manufacturer was given an iPad 2 model to base their accessories on – the same as the photos from CES. This prototype has been caught on video and passed around people interested in seeing what the new Apple machine looks like, presumably by the same supplier who has been asked by Apple to work on the accessories. This makes me wonder if this is a controlled leak or just a blatant hoax.
The clip in question certainly bears out what previous rumours have mentioned about the design of the second generation iPad; a camera on the front, a smidgen thinner then the first generation iPad model, a silver back with a bit of an angle on it and a big speaker grill down on the bottom right hand side.
While we can’t take these rumour as being definite confirmation of existence of the iPad 2, the lack of denials and the number of rumours coming from different sources make it almost certain that what see in the video is exactly what is seems to be. Now we just have to wait for the people at Apple to make some sort of official announcement and put us all out of our misery.
Could it be a February release date for the iPad 2 after all?
