The Apple iPhone 5 hans’t even been given an official release date, or even been confirmed as being a reality and people are already comparing it to another phone that will release at the end of Q3 to Q4. The Nexus 4G will be the likely Android contender when the iPhone launches later this year and rumored specs for the two phones are popping up all over the internet.
Apple to the wraps off iOS 5 last week, revealing a whole host of juicy upgrades and features that have been designed to rival Android. But what about the little green fella? What will Android bring to the Nexus 4G?
At this stage its hard to say, although the phone will more than likely be the first to support Ice-Cream sandwich (Android 4.0) which looks to combine the best bits from Gingerbread and the tablet centric Honeycomb for smartphone use. The iPhone 5 will likely use the A5 processor, ripped right out of the ipad 2 and the Nexus 4G will also feature a 1.2GHz dual core chip (at least) and 1GB of RAM.
Some interesting comparisons have been made over at Cnet, their table supports the claim that Apple will use a 8MP Sony sensor which is a marked improvement on the current rear snapper. Interestingly, they have predicted the Nexus S will only come with a 5MP camera – we will have to wait and see.
One area where the current Nexus S triumphs over the iPhone 4 is that it is NFC equipped. The new model will also come with NFC technology although Apple has previously denied they will include it, don’t be surprised if they do!
One thing that is certain is that Apple won’t have it all their own way, Android is pushing them all the way which is fantastic news for consumers as it means bigger and better features.

It doesn't matter what hardware is in this Nexus phone, it's a geek's wet dream on paper, but I've only seen two Android's actually run their OS smooth… And it was just recently. That's embarrassing. Android is a great platform, but with their "wild west" marketplace, again, seems good on paper, is a tragic mess. Apple may have walls up around their ecosystem, but numbers don't lie.
Hardware wise, it's easy for these Android phones to stay ahead because a bunch come out each year… And Android is an Operating System. Not a phone. Apple releases one huge OS update, and one phone a year, and yet, it STILL comes out on top. Numbers do not lie.

Not everyone wants to pay a premium for an under-powered phone even if it has better design, polish, and animated transitions. Form over function for some folks. Function over form for others.
I much prefer the flexibility of Android, you can personalise it so much more and it is not over priced. I do agree with Holton on the apps market, a lot of it is just plain dodgy, they need to make it as polished as apples store.
