After a week of frantic console gaming at E3, mobile app developers are starting to reveal their sales figures. Chillingo led the way by revealing they have sold 140 million apps since the Apple app store opened. Today Gameloft has responded with a press release that says the group has sold an impressive 200 million titles in the same time.
Gameloft owes its success to a number of popular titles including Let’s Golf, a game which was huge on the Sony PSP and has enjoyed continued success on iOS. Other titles that have hit it big include Asphalt, N.O.V.A and Modern Combat which all hit the top ten when released on various mobile app stores including Apple and Android devices.
Gameloft isn’t about to sit back and rest on its laurels and plans to release a further 20 titles before the end of 2011. They say that this will keep them at the premium end of mobile gaming, some of which will offer subscription based gaming.
Today’s data relates purely to the Apple app store and Senior VP Gonazague de Vallois was clearly proud of their achievements, he said “We have been able to develop a truly massive fan base by offering high-quality games on the App Store,”
he continued “For millions of people worldwide, Gameloft is now synonymous with amazing gaming experiences on their iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.”
