Style And Features From The LG Secret
April 26, 2008
LG took a giant leap in the mobile phone industry with the releases of the LG Chocolate and the LG Shine. As of the 24th
April (Europe release date - America and Asia to follow), they’ve taken their third step with the release of what is the slimmest, and arguably best looking, 5 Megapixel camera phone available in Europe.
The LG Secret offers the same level of design as its black label predecessors but packs in even more features. The carbon fibre body is not only designed to look good but also ensures that your mobile phone looks as good after several months as it did on day one. Even the LCD uses tempered glass to provide a ruggedness and hardiness not always associated with mobile phones.
120 frames per second of DivX video combines with the impressive 5 Megapixel camera and a plethora of high specification features to give a powerful mobile experience. The Touch Screen design is, in all probability, an attempt to cash in on the unparalleled success of the Apple iPhone but that’s not a reason to complain so long as it works properly – and all early indications show that it does just that.
LG have really stepped up to the plate recently as a serious mobile phone manufacturer, and the Secret is certain to carry on this lineage of high quality and good looking phones.
BlackBerry Pearl 8110 with GPS Now Available
April 24, 2008

US Telecoms giant AT&T have started offering the ‘BlackBerry Pearl 8110′ built by the guys at Research In Motion. The phone is available from Today and online for the US. The smartphone features a built in GPS receiver, with all round compatibility with the AT&T ‘Navigator’ GPS system.
The BlackBerry Pearl 8110’s include a microSD card slot for expanded memory a 2 megapixel camera with built-in flash and video recorder. One great feature of this phone is the 3.5mm audio jack allow you to use your favorite headphones to listen to music, I currently own a U600 and have an annoying usb style headphone jack which are rare to pickup as replacement.
Usual Bluetooth, as well as quad-band GSM. However, A 20-key ‘SureType’ keyboard and support for BlackBerry email allows as with most blackberry phones another great feature is instant messaging emailing and the flexibility of being able to add up to 10 work and personal email addresses including Gmail and Google Talk accounts.
In summary, this phone is for a business user and perhaps a fraction of the tech market. The RIM BlackBerry Pearl 8110 is available in store for $149.99 and a 2 year contract, ouch!
Motorola Internal Memo Tells Designers To Hold Hands
April 20, 2008
Motorola is making a last grasp at holding its Mobile Devices unit together. This past week an internal memo was passed around regarding the reassigning of hardware designers and software designers to work side-by-side. The perpetually optimistic, but declining technology giant hopes to relive the RAZR glory days by catering to the increasing demand for efficient and effective mobile software. And in a moment of morose honesty, Motorola’s CEO, Greg Brown admits “software is a major weakpoint for the company’s mobile handsets.”
This year has been an emotional rollercoaster for Motorola, who in January was consdering dropping its mobile devices altogether. After the immense popularity of the RAZR, every major release from Motorola has failed to live up to expectations. The market has become software and third-party support oriented, and lack of internal communication within the company has apparently left it far behind the consumer demand curve. In March, Motorola announced it was splitting the Mobile Devices unit from other technology, and this month brings new gusto for revamping the units.
With the push for open source software support technologies from companies like Google, and Facebook, is Motorola’s push for hope even reasonable? It appears they have nowhere to go but up, however, they seem to be staring at a glass ceiling into an entire market that has passed them by.

Nokia Morph Nano Technolgy Concept Phone
February 29, 2008
This video shows the Nokia concept phone named the 'morph'. This concept cell phone boasts nano technology that allows it to change shape, colour and design. It would allow it to be charged by the sun, would be able to analyze the surrounding environment (oxygen, C02 etc).
The phone could be folded to be stored in the pocket or bag or utilized as a watch or stylish wrist band that could have it's own personalised wallpaper. The phone would even be able to clean itself - this is so cool! I can't wait until this sort of thing becomes a reality.

Hydrogen Cell Powered Motorola Motoslvr L7 Prototype Revealed
February 16, 2008
Here is one of the first pictures of the Motorola Motoslvr L7 hydrogen fuel celled powered mobile phone. If this prototype actually comes into fruition it will mean mobile phone battery life will be massively increased - this is great news as gadgets are becoming more and more power hungry.
The only problem is that there is no news on when this type of battery will go in to testing, let alone actually being used. At least this is a step in the right direction.
